Cow-A-Bunga Bingo Raffle
Cow-A-Bunga Bingo Raffle - 7/19/2009

Community Aid Elk River (CAER) food shelf held a unique fundraiser on Sunday, July 19th at the Sherburne County Fairgrounds. The Inaugural Cow-A-Bunga Bingo Raffle and lollipop pull brought in just over $4,300 for CAER.  The cooperative cows let their chips fall on the grid in just 10 minutes as spectators cheered from the sidelines. The grand prize $1000 winner was Angie Maase who is a resident of Elk River. To see photos of the event, click HERE.


ER Community Garage Sale - 6/27 & 6/28
The 2009 Community Garage Sale was held Saturday 6/27 and Sunday 6/28 at the Cornerstone Car Wash/Detail Center (Elk River Ford Dodge Jeep @ 17219 Hwy 10, Elk River).  CAER received $3500 in cash from the sale as well as 345 lbs of food.  Again, we'd like to thank the organizers (especially Tricia Getty), the volunteers, and the patrons who purchased treasures at the garage sale in support of local charities such as CAER.


CAER Classic Golf Tournament- 6/24/2009
The 2nd Annual CAER Classic Golf Tournament sponsored by the Bank of Elk River was held on June 24th, 2009 at Riverwood National golf course.  The tournament and auction raised $13,500 for CAER!!  A special thanks to the organizers, volunteers and of course, the players for their continued support of CAER.


Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive - 5/9/2009
Each year the National Association of Letter Carriers holds
 the nation’s largest food drive to combat hunger and in 2009, the drive was conducted on Saturday, May 9. On that day, letter carriers collected non-perishable donations from homes as they delivered mail along their postal routes.  This year they collected a whopping 7,242 lbs of food for CAER!!  Thank you to the postal carriers and all those who so generously contributed. 


2009 Elk River Crop Walk
CROP Hunger Walks help children and families worldwide -- and right here in the U.S. -- to have food for today, while building for a better tomorrow. THANK YOU for helping to make this year’s Crop Walk held on 4/26/2009 such a success!!  Congratulations to Elk River United Methodist Church for winning the contest for the most pounds of food raised.  Last year 1,044 pounds of food was donated during the Crop Walk.  This year 1,788 pounds was donated, with the Methodist Church bringing in 703 pounds!  We had a great turnout of walkers and the rain even held off during the walk.  Thanks to all who volunteered, walked, and contributed to another successful Crop Walk!!


Volunteer Banquet & 30 Year Celebration
CAER celebrated 30 years of growth with all of the volunteers who have so generously donated their time helping their neighbors in need at the food shelf
.  A banquet was held in honor of the volunteers on 4/23/2009 at Union Church from 11AM - 1PM. Volunteers make all the difference at CAER! 


4/10/09 - From now through December 31st, the Healing Choices therapy center in Elk River will be offering 60 minute massages by a certified therapist to raise money for CAER. The massage costs $35 ($5 of which will be donated to CAER). In order to receive the donations, clients must present this massage certificate at their appointment.
4/8/09 - Thank you to everyone for helping to make our March Food Campaign such a success.  Our goal for this year was to collect 83,000 pounds of food/dollars and we surpassed that goal collecting a total of 84,632!  Thank you for supporting CAER and fighting hunger in our area.

For the 12th consecutive year, Alan Shawn Feinstein will divide $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide using it to help them raise funds during March and April, 2009.

CAER extends a very heartfelt THANK YOU, to all the sponsors, participants, and wonderful volunteers who helped make the inaugural CAER Classic Golf Tournament such a great day! Approximately $13,000 was raised to support CAER’s mission to strive to ensure that no one in our community goes to bed hungry or without basic needs. Thank you all, and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
